Mumby is 2 miles from the North Sea coast and 5 miles southeast of Alford.
Like many rural communities the focus has always been the church. Pictured to the right is St Thomas' Anglican parish church.
The population of Mumby has varied greatly over the ages and currently stands at about one third of its peak in the mid 19th century, at 277 down from 839.
